M / B Bitihorn has been on a regular route on Lake Bygdin since 1912. The boat crosses the lake twice a day, from Bygdin at the southern end via Torfinnsbu to Eidsbugarden. From the deck you can experience many beautiful 2-meter peaks. You can also combine the boat trip with fine hiking in the area. The boat has a capacity of 2000 passengers. The season is normally from late June to early September.
Tyinholmen is the optimal starting point for top trips to several of the most famous peaks in Jotunheimen. Falketind 2067 meters, Uranostind 2157 meters and Stølsnostind 2074 meters are very popular hiking destinations within easy reach. We work with several mountain guides and can offer tours with an emphasis on safety and sympathetic pace. The mountain guiding season starts in early July and the season runs until the end of September. Contact us for more information!
We look forward to welcoming you to a new summer season at Tyinholmen! We stay open until October 4th and hope for a lot of visits this summer. This is in many ways a special summer and of course we take the rules of infection control very seriously. At Tyinholmen you can stay in detached cabins and in our spacious common areas in the main house we adjust the distance between the tables. Cleaning procedures are strictly adhered to.
If you have symptoms of COVID19 you cannot reach the mountains. This also applies to mild symptoms. Plan hand hygiene measures out and about. Bring plenty of wet wipes, soap and alcohol-based disinfection.
Welcome to the high mountain this summer!
Mjølkevegen, which is one of Norway's finest cycling adventure routes, walks into beautiful mountain and seascape between Vinstra in Gudbrandsdalen, through large parts of Valdres, to Gol in Hallingdal. The route is part of the National Cycle Route No. 5
The trip through Valdres offers Norway's largest and most active areas, such as Jotunheimvegen in the east and Stølsvidda in the west. The cycling route extends to highways with little traffic, and the combination of magnificent nature, noise and mountain air is a luxury we all can experience. The cycling trip can be combined with hiking in the mountains, swimming, fishing, boating and beautiful nature and cultural experiences - a perfect cycling holiday suitable for active families
Tyinholmen is one of several accommodation companies that have entered into cooperation on accommodation, dining and guidance along the cycle route. Tyinholmen is a natural stopover along Panorama Round (160 km) of Mjølkevegen: Recommended route is to start on the Route in Vinstra - Lemonsjøen - Bygdin, take the bike on M / S Bitihorn over Bygdin to Eidsbugarden - Tyinholmen - Sørre Hemsing and exit at Beitostølen. If you are first at Tyinholmen, we strongly recommend taking the detour into Koldedalen. Outstanding nature experience!

The 10X mile hiking trail Kongevegen over Filefjell takes you through some of the most beautiful landscapes in Norway. From the inland villages in Valdres via the high mountains on the Filefjell and down to the narrow and dramatic fjord landscape at the bottom of the Sognefjord. A journey between the regions with the historic King's Road as a common red thread. The party between Vang and Lærdal was the most spectacular on the Bergenske Kongeveg. Today, the road is one of the finest road-historical cultural monuments in the country.
Starting from Tyinholmen one can choose several exciting stages. The nature experiences are spectacular.
The royal road has varying surfaces of gravel, grass, path and asphalt. The road can both be walked and cycled, but be aware that the recommended cycle route has a different path than the walking route.
The season for trips along the Royal Road starts in the transition April / May down in Lærdal and in Vang, while over the high mountain the snow disappears late in June. July and August are high season, but an autumn trip in September and October also offers great experiences.
