Tyinholmen is one of the most traditional lodges in Jotunheimen with a history dating back to 1892. It was to the Tyin area the first adventurers and mountaineers came in the early 1800s. The climb of Falketind in 1820, which is also mentioned as the discovery of Jotunheimen, began from a small mountain cabin - 250 meters north of Tyinholmen. The lodge has a magnificent location at the northern end of lake Tyin, 1100 meters above sea level - with an excellent view of peaks and glaciers. There are numerous hiking opportunities, Tyinholmen is also centrally located within the large route network of the Norwegian Trekking Association, DNT. |
