Tyinholmen is an excellent starting point for cabin to cabin hiking in Jotunheimen. Many people choose to start their trip at Tyinholmen to advance in the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT) marked trails and then return back.
Here is an overview of several of the (DNT's) cabins which are located in reasonable walking distance:
Skogadalsbøen: 7 hours
Olavsbu: 5 hours
Gjendebu: 5 hours
Fondsbu: 3/4 hour
Sletningsbu: 5 hours
